Telavi Holds “Energy Day” Celebration

On June 29, in the framework of the EU’s Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), the town of Telavi celebrated an “Energy Day”. EUSEW, which took place from June 4-8, is designed to bring together policy makers, industry leaders, stakeholders, NGO’s, academics, and many others with the goal of creating projects that will save energy and encourage the use of renewable resources. This week gives businesses and citizens the ability to learn current developments in sustainable energy. It was from EUSEW that the idea of creating an “Energy Day” emerged. The celebration in Telavi featured a marathon, an art exhibit, and a quiz of energy efficiency, from which the winners were given prizes. The Energy Day also provided a concert performed by a local band and an appearance from documentary filmmaker Toma Chagelishvili. The events were organized by the Telavi Municipality City Hall and the Energy Efficiency Centre Georgia. The celebration was funded by the EU4Energy Initiative and Telavi Municipality City Hall.
