NATO Stratcom COE Experts conducted an online training on combating disinformation and propaganda for Information Center on NATO and EU

Experts from the Riga NATO Strategic Communications Center of Excellence, alongside with invited international experts, conducted a one-week capacity building online course with NATO and EU Information Center staff focusing on Combating Disinformation and Propaganda.
 
The course focused on multidisciplinary concepts and approaches, which are vital for better understanding disinformation and propaganda, combating their negative impacts and better equipping Information Center and its regional representatives to counter hostile information.
 
During the course, NATO Stratcom COE experts enhanced the participants knowledge on social and cognitive psychology, memory studies, concepts of narrative and identity, audience research and analysis, the role of social media in fighting disinformation and COVID-19 related disinformation among other relevant topics.
 
Training was held with the  financial support of USAID Good Governance Initiative (GGI) in Georgia.  NATO StratCom COE representatives and experts, invited lecturers joined from the Baltic Defence College, King’s Centre for Strategic Communications of the King’s College London, Sandhurst Academy, European External Action Service and Zinc Network Ltd.

The NATO StratCom COE, based in Riga, Latvia, contributes to the development of strategic communications capabilities of NATO, NATO allies and NATO partner countries.
