The cycle of seminars on NATO for representatives of local municipalities has concluded

The cycle of trainings for representatives of local municipalities has come to a close. During the course, participants from various regions of Georgia were informed on NATO-related issues, Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration process, its prospects and challenges.

 

US Air Force Major Margo Z. Shields, currently serving at the Eurasia Regional Cooperative Engagement Office Cooperative Threat Reduction, within the US Embassy in Tbilisi, was invited to introduce a historical overview of the founding of NATO at the final webinar of the course.

During her speech, Major Margo Z. Shields spoke about the aims and goals of the Alliance and NATO’s role in ensuring global security, as well as emphasizing that Georgia is a valuable partner for NATO.

 

In the frames of the course for the representatives of the local municipalities, Director of the Department of NATO Integration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Tornike Parulava was invited to hold 5 lectures on Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration process, mechanisms of NATO-Georgia cooperation and NATO’s strategy in the context of Black Sea regional security.

 

The event is organized within the frames of the “Increasing Regional Outreach and Engagement over Western Integration” project, which was granted by the United States Department of State and implemented by the Information Center on NATO and EU together with the U.S.
